The Transformation Approach: Monster Truck Movie

When you run a tranformation program, either it's holistic (people, process & technology) or just partially, your assessment methodology usually consist of three part:

1. Overlap
To find any overlap and remove it. Sample is when you combine two organization and find same people do the same things (usually the location is different)

2. Gap
To find any gap and close it. Sample is when you introduce new system to organization but find some of its capability is lacking compared to previous systems

3. Relic/artifact
To find any relic and remove it. Sample is when someone/tools create report which no one care anymore.

Point 1 and 2 usually easy to find and confirm but not so much about point 3. It's require more in-depth analysis and interview, especially when documentation is limited.

To discuss more about relic/artifact, please check the picture below
Cinema in Indonesia has midnight show every Saturday night. During my university day, I sometime watch movie at this hour. Few months back, I found the show "Monster Truck" on midnight. Just by looking at the screenshot, I concluded that the Cinemas does not really care about the midnight show performance thus they are OK showing kids/family movies. They just do it without having profitability mindset. The example of relic. This conclusion based on:
1. Monster truck is kids/family movie.
2. The audience of midnight show is adult.
3. The Cinemas ignorance of those two above conclude this is a relic

However, when I did more in-depth analysis, I found more information
1. Monster truck is rated PG. This is not animation movie. More targeted to teen.
2. Usually only one theater in the whole Cinema has midnight show. The operational cost is low.
3. The Cinema located to very near of Universitas Pakuan where university students stay. They are usually late teen or early twenties.

Based on those two info, it cast doubt about my previous conclusion. To get solid conclusion, I need more info such as:
1. Demographic of midnight show audience. Yes, I know this is hard to get as no ID required when you bought movie ticket, but in some level you know whether they are teens, twenty something, or maybe older
2. Cost of running midnight show.

As you can see, it's not very easy to categorize things as relic with limited information. What do you think?
